Using my resources
My code
These conditions apply to my original code on this website and in its code downloads, including Julia, Python/NumPy, C, notebook code cells and browser demonstrations.
You may download, run, copy, modify and share my code free of charge for noncommercial teaching, learning and demonstrations. Acknowledge me and link to the source. Keep my copyright notice and these conditions with copies and adaptations, and identify your changes.
Research, including academic research, and commercial use require my explicit written permission. This includes research calculations and use within a research or commercial program. A citation alone is not permission. Write to saswata_at_msme.iith.ac.in, identify the code and version, and describe your intended use.
Copies already released under another license retain that license. Third-party code and dependencies retain their own licenses and any applicable distribution requirements. Separate research repositories follow the terms supplied with them. Rights provided by law and GitHub’s viewing and forking terms are unchanged. I provide the code without warranty.
My teaching notes and figures
Unless stated otherwise, my original teaching text, notes and figures that I own are available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). You may share and adapt them, including commercially. Credit me, link to the source and license, and state any changes. This license does not apply to code.
For example: “Adapted from [resource title] by Saswata Bhattacharyya, [page link], CC BY 4.0. Changes: [brief description].”
Published papers, students’ thesis material, jointly owned material, institute logos and other material credited to others follow their own terms. Cite the original source and retain the authors’ names.
